NSSF's Commitment to Firearm Safety

One of the questions I'm often asked in the course of the gun debate is, "Is there common ground and room for cooperation?" The answer I always give is "Absolutely," because one thing all of us, especially gun owners, can agree on is the importance of firearm safety.

As the leading organization to promote firearm safety, NSSF launched Project ChildSafe in 2003 specifically to educate gun owners on their responsibility to keep their guns out of the wrong hands, and provide the tools to help them do so. Through partnerships with law enforcement we have distributed more than 36 million free firearm safety kits and safety information to gun owners throughout the U.S. as part of this program, and between 2000 and 2010, fatal firearm accidents dropped 22 percent. Demand for NSSF Safety Education Materials Skyrockets

Demand for safety and education materials has skyrocketed in the first quarter of 2013 with more than 1 million safety literature items and safety DVDs being ordered.

NSSF's safety and education literature is available for state agencies, manufacturers, retailers, hunter education and firearms safety programs, and other groups or individuals involved in the shooting sports, hunting and firearms industry.

Let Your Voice Be Heard, Contact Your Legislators

Severely restrictive gun-control legislation has been introduced throughout the country. Firearms owners are turning out by the thousands at state hearings, but just as important is letting your legislators know by letter or phone call that these proposed bills are unwarranted and an assault on your Second Amendment rights.

Call or write your federal and state legislators and urge them to protect your right to own and use the firearms of your choice for personal protection, target shooting and hunting.
